Everything But The Kitchen Sink

Yesterday I wrote about Finding Light In The Darkess of our lives, and had the amazing good fortune of announcing that after our dark and dreary wait, Mr. MoSop received a job offer!! However, the Lord in His infinite wisdom made sure we didn’t get too uppity about it. (explanation momentarily).

The late LDS President Ezra Taft Benson often spoke on the subject of Pride:

President Ezra Taft Benson
President Ezra Taft Benson

“Pride is the universal sin, the great vice. Yes, pride is the universal sin, the great vice.

The antidote for pride is humility—meekness, submissiveness. (See Alma 7:23.)

It is the broken heart and contrite spirit. (See 3 Ne. 9:20; 3 Ne. 12:19; D&C 20:37; D&C 59:8; Ps. 34:18; Isa. 57:15; Isa. 66:2.) …

God will have a humble people. Either we can choose to be humble or we can be compelled to be humble. Alma said, “Blessed are they who humble themselves without being compelled to be humble” (Alma 32:16).

Let us choose to be humble.” ( The Faces Of Pride, 2003)

OK. So, apparently, God felt we needed a little dose of compelling yesterday. About three hours after the great and spacious job offer, (and our family victory dance), our garbage disposal exploded. When I say exploded, I mean – Boom – a massive flood of water filled with shredded roast beef and rice pellets plastered all over the kitchen. Thus, we now have everything we could possibly need in life, but the kitchen sink.

And all things considered, I can live with that! – MoSop

  1. I loved this post. Mostly got a kick out of it but if that was me, not so funny. I guess we all need a dose of humbling every now and again even if it comes in the form of beef and rice explosion. 🙂

I also love President Benson’s words on pride. His talk Beware of Pride is a must-read for all.

    Great post and great blog.

  2. God is SO good!

“Ye shalt not be tempted above that ye are are able
    to bear.”

    or

“Thy kitchen sink shalt not explode until ye are
    able to replace it.”

We are so blessed, even in our trials.

“Nevertheless, I did look upon my God, and I did praise him all the day long…” (1Nephi18:16)
