Love Notes

Have I told you lately that I love you? I Do!

Happy “Love Note Day“! Β β™₯

Here are some other things I love about today! β™₯

#1. Historic Birthday

The Tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City celebrated it’s 150th Birthday this week. This innovative building is a symbol of Mormon perseverance. It is more than just a beloved building – it holds the memory and spirit of amazing prophetic words of counsel during decades of General Conferences, the home of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir providing 89 Years (and counting) of Sunday morning broadcasts, and special performances. Special events have also been held here – including the visits of many US Presidents, and an historic address by President John F. Kennedy just days before his assassination. More history about the Tabernacle can be read here.

Happy Sesquicentennial Tabernacle, my old friend!

#2. Conference Music

I LOVE β™₯ learning and rehearsing the music that the Choir will be singing this coming weekend for General Conference. We have a couple of brand new arrangements for this Conference, which we sight read last Sunday (yep, we operate on a very tight timetable for learning new repertoire!). I love it when we get to sing something brand new!

But… there are a few “surprise places” for the Sopranos πŸ˜‰

#3. Cool Runnings

Ah… β™ͺβ™ͺ Fall! Glorious Fall β™ͺβ™ͺ has descended on the Wasatch Front, and I’m in heaven. I love β™₯ Fall! It’s my favorite time of year. The season for ‘Sweater Weather’, crisp apples, colorful mountain drives, crunchy leaves, and pumpkin pie.

Fall is also the Season of Gratitude.

There’s snow capped mountains above our home now, and everything is looking very green and fresh from all of the rain we’ve been getting.

It is amazing how much easier my breathing and running are now with the cooler temperature. I did my 5 mile run after work yesterday just as the sun had set. I have found that I actually really enjoy running in the dark with my little headlamp shining light on my path, and with no distractions (except for the random glowing eyes from time to time of cats in the bushes – at least I’m pretty sure it’s cats – although it might also include my raccoon friend) Β – so, I just get to look inward, listen to the rhythm of my breath, and ponder life.

It’s very peaceful.

#4. Counting Down…

ten-more

St. George Marathon

I have “butterflies in my stomach”.

Why do we blame butterflies and not, say, hummingbirds or bees?

Either way, it’s descriptive of how my stomach gets a flapping lurch every time I think of running that epic 26.2 miles in 10 days. I really have to try to calm myself down about it.

I have a little mantra…. “Just Breathe! I’ve trained for this. I can do this! Just Breathe!”

So, yes, I have to add the race countdown to my LOVE list for today β™₯ because I Love that I have a body that can move and is healthy enough to attempt this crazy thing. I love that I have been able to stick to my running and training schedule for this many months. And I really really LOVE that my sweet Mr. Mo has faithfully completed every training run with me since January Β (even though he refused to sign up for the marathon… but, he did sign up to be my staunch cheerleader). β™₯

I am ever so thankful for General Conference this week to keep my mind sufficiently distracted and focused on peaceful, joyful things. I can hardly wait to hear the messages of inspiration and love that have been prepared just for us through inspiration from the Lord!

Thank you again, for taking time out of your busy life today to visit my site and read my post. I hope you have a lovely Love Note day! β™₯

Before the day is done, why not take this opportunity to write a little Love Note of your own? I bet there’s someone out there that could really use one, and it will make their day!

  1. I love you too, Holly. Your blog is always so uplifting and inspiring. It made my day, which also happens to be my 76th birthday. I’m reminded of the old joke, if I’d known I was going to live this long, I’d have taken better care of my body. I used to run and walk 5 miles at least 4 or 5 times a week. But, as I got older and started working to support myself after a divorce, I quit exercising. I was tired after work and didn’t feel like walking. Now, I really regret that I ever stopped. I’m proud of you for your commitment and determination. Never stop running or at least walking. You’ll be sorry if you do.

    1. Happy Birthday Lynne!!!! πŸŽˆπŸŽ‰ Thanks for the advice and encouragement.
But, please don’t be so hard on yourself. You’ve lived a great life and you have obviously been running your own personal “marathon” challenges over the years! I think you deserve a medal!
Thank you for being my dear friend. ❀
