Free Wireless

I have learned in a very personal way that God is real. He loves us. He listens. The best way to know this, is simply to put His amazing “free wireless service” to the test any time of the day or night. Amazingly, the more we use it, the clearer our reception gets.

I did not create this poster, but I found it inspirational, and thought it worthy to share.

I have found that if I haven’t been as diligent or as regular “calling home” my Father in Heaven will inevitably send a humbling reminder that He needs to hear from me, and I need Him! I know from first hand experience how joyful it is to have a child who is away from home call “just because”. I also know how worried I get when I don’t hear from that child for a while. It is definitely better for everyone when we choose to check in with our Heavenly Home often and regularly!

Here are some thoughts to ponder:

1. You’re Never Too “(fill in the blank)” To Pray

There is a risk that a person may not feel good enough to pray. This idea comes from that evil spirit who is the one who teaches us not to pray (see 2 Nephi 32:8). It is as tragic to think we are too sinful to pray as it is for a very sick person to believe he is too sick to go to the doctor!

2. Prayer Gives You Wings

Prayer is the means by which we approach our Father in Heaven, who loves us. Speak to Him in prayer and then listen for the answer. Miracles are wrought through prayer”

3. Prayer: Open 24/7

When should we pray? Whenever we desire! Alma taught, “Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, … and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day.” Jesus reminded His disciples “that they should not cease to pray in their hearts.”

There’s no substitute for prayer. It is a time we can put life on “pause” and participate in sacred communion between our earth-bound spirit and a Higher Spirit. As beautiful hymn O May My Soul Commune With Thee instructs, praying helps us find “our holy peace” and “sweet release“. In today’s chaotic world, that kind of peace is definitely something we all can use!
