I Pray On Christmas All Our Problems Gonna Be Worked Out

Today was an incredibly busy and exhausting day physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually…and to complicate matters, we Northern Utahns woke up to a huge blizzard that mandated taking a herculean leap of faith every time one left the house, and required keeping a death grip on the steering wheel when driving. snowstormUnfortunately, my day required way too much driving than I wanted!

After going through a very long and difficult day, I could barely find the energy to climb back into the car for one last trip home. As Mr. MoSop started up the engine and the two of us slowly drove away from the hospital we sunk into a bone-tired and soul-weary silence. I turned on the radio just in time to hear an excited radio personality announcing that “this next song has become a new ‘listener favorite’ here!”. When the lively jazz tune began, I immediately recognized the vocalist as my very own dear friend Alex Boyé!

I can’t ever recall hearing the song “I Pray On Christmas” before. Perhaps that’s because I have never FELT this song before like I felt it tonight! It came right out of that radio and into my soul like a powerful personal message from God. Every word of the song resonated with me – which normally would have made me cry, except Alex’s enthusiastic and spirit-filled delivery made me chuckle and smile!

And, I really needed that chuckle and smile! 🙂

What a tender mercy! Life is hard. Sadly, sometimes the joyful Christmas-time makes Life hurt even worse. But, the song reminded me that Life is still good. God is good. You really gotta give Him props and love how creative He gets when He not only wants to talk to us, but He also wants to make sure we listen to Him. That’s when he goes and finds the right moment, in the right way, using the right person.

And, the very best ways to feel and hear God are always through beautiful people making beautiful music.

Thank you so much, Alex ♥

I Pray On Christmas – Lyrics Sung By Alex Boyé

I pray on Christmas
That the Lord will see me through
I pray on Christmas
That the Lord will show me what to do

I pray on Christmas
He will help me to understand
And I pray on Christmas
That He gonna take me by the hand

I pray on Christmas
That the sick will soon be strong
I pray on Christmas
That the God is gonna hear my song

I pray on Christmas
That God is gonna lead the way
And I pray on Christmas
That He will get me through another day

I pray on Christmas
I pray on Christmas
I pray on Christmas
That He will get me through another day

I pray on Christmas
That God will show us what Love’s about
I pray on Christmas
All our problems gonna be worked out
I pray on Christmas
That I will do His will each day
And I pray on Christmas
That I will make it to heaven someday

I pray on Christmas
That the sick will soon be strong
I pray on Christmas
That the Lord is gonna hear my song

I pray on Christmas
That I’ll do His will each day
And I really, really pray on Christmas day
That I will make it through another day
I pray on Christmas
Won’t you get me through another day

Afterthoughts

40 Days in hospital for Daughter A is a “milestone” we never wanted to reach. After Thanksgiving passed, her #1 goal and biggest dream became centered on just being “Home for Christmas and my Birthday“. Today, it’s become clear that she will not be waking up on Christmas morning in her new PJs to the sights and sounds and smells of home. Our family traditions have all flown out the window one by one this year. And, since her birthday is just 4 days following the Big Holly-Day, the harsh reality is that sometimes even the most righteous Christmas wishes of the heart do not come true.

We try not to count days…but, they just keep counting themselves for us. Her condition is still very serious, but ‘stable’. She has not gotten markedly worse, but she has not improved. We never really know what a day will bring. Things come and go. Last week she could slowly shuffle with a walker (which she named Walter) But, this week, both her legs and right arm are not working again. She often cries herself to sleep at night. But, she also looks for the tender mercies. She finds joy in the ‘little things’ that aren’t actually so little after all. Like the male care tech assigned to her for the past two days who took the time to sit and brush out her hair until it shone while telling her jokes that made her laugh so hard her sides ached! Like another care tech who brought some brand new movies from her own home library for patients to share and enjoy! Like the book she really wanted to read which had to be special ordered from LuLu and wasn’t expected to arrive until January…but actually arrived today! Like the chance to see snow! Tonight with the help of Mom and Dad acting as bookends – we propped her up to the window and then she gazed down in wonder at the beautiful fluffy snowflakes falling and covering everything up in a blanket of white. We laughed together as we watched cars driving too fast begin to slip-n-slide down the street … We counted the snowplows … we caught a glimpse of a truck with a wreath attached to its front grill, and if she stretched her neck just right could make out the lights of a Christmas Tree in the window of a house down the street.

Who knew how much fun it could be watching snow fall outside of a hospital window?

24 years ago today…

Wait… that just happened?

Ever wonder how two people married for 24 years celebrate?

They wander the grocery store buying cleaning products, painting supplies, deodorant, stockingstuffers and wrapping tape before suddenly remembering it’s their anniversary! Then they stand in the aisle taking selfies together and posting them on Facebook. Yep, people…that’s how it all went down. Just sharing the romance, folks!
