Today, I’m sharing Mark’s story. A former addict and repeat convict, Mark tells about losing his way – not just once, but over and over and over again. His story is filled with sorrow, but it is also a story of hope and love and forgiveness. Watch this!
When I listen to Mark share his long, agonizing journey, I can’t help thinking about his mother and father. I sympathize with how much they must have suffered. I imagine the sleepless nights, the tears that were shed, and the deep despair they must have felt for their child. I also think about Mark’s siblings, his extended family and friends. All of these people standing by loving him, feeling heartbroken, helpless, losing hope.
I’m certain that you have someone in your life who you feel an aching heart over. You doubt they could ever change. You wonder if all hope is lost for them. It might be a child, a parent, an extended family member, or a friend. It might be yourself.
Mark’s story is important because although he was wandering down a very dark path, he was never walking alone. It wasn’t too late for another chance and a mighty change of heart. God loves all of His children equally. so, that means it is not too late for our loved ones, or for you, or for me. Our Savior, Jesus Christ is still there. He’s just waiting for us to ask for His help. And, He asks for us to trust in His timing.
The Lord knows what we are facing – that we all sin, and come short of the glory of God time and time again. . . and though repentance is not easy, as we strive with all our hearts to obey His gospel, He gives this promise:
“Verily I say until you, notwithstanding your sins, my bowels are filled with compassion toward you. I will not utterly cast you off, and in the day of wrath, I will remember mercy.”
