One Arm At A Time Giving Hope

Yesterday I received my 1st vaccination for the COVID-19 Virus. I qualified under the Health Care and Essential Workers group due to my employment. The truth is, the roll-out across our country is not uniform, and I know that there have been a lot of struggles and frustrations. I know there are many more needful than me, and so I struggled for a while signing up for my shot, not wanting to “take one away” from someone else. However, I decided that doing this was a way for me to be a team player and do my part to help build up our “herd immunity”. The work is rolling forward. The roll of the dice meant it was my turn. When the time comes for your turn, please don’t hesitate! Just grab it and go for it! Every single one of us who gets this vaccine is going to help save not only ourselves – but others, our neighborhood, city, state, nation, and the world! Amazing, isn’t it? Such a silly little thing – something like a tiny needle injecting a tiny little fluid into our arm for 3 seconds – can change our lives, and save the world.

I want to give a huge kudos to the Davis County Utah group doing a mammoth and phenomenal job! Today 2200 people were vaccinated at our County site. It really was so organized – the entire thing from start to finish took me less than 30 minutes. They are using the county fairgrounds, and file the cars in a very organized manner. I experienced no lines. The Army National Guard were there to direct traffic [I smiled seeing how even their masks were army issued to match the tan of their uniforms].

When I drove into the “big blue barn” Events Center I was directed to the last of 14 Stations where they asked me to turn off my ignition, took my paperwork, checked my ID, gave me the shot, and handed me my vaccination card with the return date clearly printed for my 2nd dose [ February 26]. I drove out the other side of the building and parked in a designated area for 15 minutes to ensure I experienced no serious side effects [I didn’t]. And then, off I went! Easy peasy.

It’s a good day! But, it’s not a perfect day. I’m wishing everyone in my household, my friends, family, neighbors, my nation and the world were all getting their vaccines right NOW, today. It’s frustrating for anyone to have to wait when we are just sooo close to getting this dang thing under control, and halting the suffering and death! … but, we are going to get there. We are restoring our lives – one day, and one tiny shot in the arm at a time! 🙂
