Some of the most sublime and thought-provoking teachings of Jesus can be found in the 5th Chapter of Matthew , in the New Testamant – called The Sermon on The Mount. Not far from the city of Nazareth, a large crowd gathered on a hill. They had a commanding view of the beautiful Sea of Galilee as they listened to the man who had calmed its waves and walked upon its sparkling water. Jesus’ sermon was designed to teach how to live the 10 Commandments by living the higher laws of “Loving God“, and “Loving our neighbor as our self“. He outlined the character traits, thoughts, and actions that will call down the blessings of heaven, and illustrates how to live as God asks. Being meek, humble, and pure in heart. Being a peacemaker. “Hunger & thirst for righteousness”. Being willing to suffer and be persecuted for belief in Him, and willing to extend forgiveness to all enemies. Blessed are those who rejoice in their persecution and trials – knowing they are in good company with God’s holy prophets. Blessed are those who are a light to others. After Jesus gives the long list of things we should do and be, he sums it all up with the ultimate command:
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect”. Matt 5:48
Jesus’ life is the perfect example of how all mankind should live. The apostle Peter taught: “Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps” (1 Pet. 2:21) Jesus is the Lord of lords, King of kings, the Creator, the Savior, and the God of the whole earth! And yet, he urged us with full justification to become perfect, even as He and His Father are perfect, and striving to become “even as I am.” (3 Ne. 27:27; see also 3 Ne. 12:48.)
But How can any of us possibly be perfect, or become like Him?
It is easy to doubt, become discouraged or overwhelmed. We must ask ourselves, ‘Would Jesus, the most perfect loving being, really give us a command that could not be accomplished, setting us up for failure?’ This question was answered by the angel Gabriel, when announcing to a perplexed young Mary her impending miracle, he testified:
“For with God nothing shall be impossible” (Luke 1:37.)
Our Heavenly Father would not be the Perfect Father, nor Jesus our Perfect Shepherd, if they were content with us to remain just as we are now. Why? Because they know what we have the power to become!

Each of us have a divine birthright. We have received a heavenly promise that as we strive to live as Jesus lived, love as He loved, and serve as he served, we will be Blessed in this life, and better prepared to reach our unlimited potential!
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” – 1 John 4:7

You have opened and stated well the importance of God’s gift of Jesus, Our heavenly father-in our form and humanness. The great sin of the Garden of Eden was a desire to know what God knows in order to be God, rather than be God’s companion.
Jesus is our model. The image of God as we were created. Living like Jesus pleases God. Believing that Jesus can save us from ourselves, the rebellious part of free will, is our salvation. Living like Jesus is the proof of our salvation.
