The Most WONDERFUL Time Of The Year

The distinctive voice of Johnny Mathis crooned through my radio, declaring “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of The Year!” The popular Christmas song went on to list exactly what makes it so wonderful, such as holiday greetings, being with loved ones, caroling, “parties for hosting”, and even “marshmallows for toasting” (although, I’ve never actually toasted marshmallows for Christmas, have you?…) However, there was one thing the cheery song did not mention – the very most important reason, in fact – that makes this season so wonderful.

Make no mistake, I love all of the holiday cheer, the packages, ribbons, bows, decorations, colorful lighting, delicious food, and the wonder in a child’s eyes as they meet Santa Claus. However, I would like to encourage us to also be mindful of the real reason we celebrate this joyous season.

Over 2,000 years ago, in the most humblest of circumstances, a baby was born who was destined to be the Savior of the world, even Jesus, the Christ. And he would also be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace! (Isaiah 9:6)

May your days ahead be merry, and bright. May they be filled with peace, love and joyful memories. And, may they also be truly Wonderful! ~ MoSop
