On This Day Of Life

Today I will begin my week of Giving Thanks with gratitude for the gift of life. Here’s a mind-boggler to ponder; If we could truly comprehend the vast eternal plan of heaven, our entire lifetime will only appear as a day of our existence.

“For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors” – Alma 34:32

And, we are cautioned not to waste the use of our “day” on earth.

“…after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity , behold if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.” – Alma 34:35

This certainly gives new meaning to the phrase ‘What a difference a day makes!

“There is a danger in the word someday when what it means is ‘not this day’.

‘Someday I will repent’, Someday I will forgive him’, ‘Someday I will speak to my friend about the Church’, ‘Someday I will start to pay tithing’, ‘Someday I will return to the temple’. . . we will weep, and [God] will weep if we have intended to repent and to serve Him in tomorrows which never came or have dreamt of yesterdays where the opportunity to act was past. This day is a precious gift of God.

How very blessed we are to be experiencing so much vast schooling and experience within the special incubator of “earth-time”.

What will you do today with your precious gift of God?  – MoSop
