It’s day three of Election Count 2020 – and I have three words: Trust The Process. America has a wonderful election system. For the most part, it runs smoothly. There are always those rare “hanging chad” type fiascos. But, by and large, we have a time-honored system with very few hiccups. Trust the process.

Not knowing the outcome of an election for several hours or several days is completely normal. It is especially normal right now, because 2020 broke all the records for voter turn out! [High Five, America!] More votes means more counting and more counting takes more time. 🙂
“In America, the vote is sacred. It’s how the people in this nation express their will. And, it is the will of the voters, not anyone or anything else, that chooses the President of the United States of America. So, each ballot must be counted…
…Democracy is sometimes messy. It sometimes requires a little patience, as well. But that patience has been rewarded now for more than 240 years, with a system of governance that’s been the envy of the world. Stay calm. The process is working.”
Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr.
Counting is Elementary
Voting requires Counting! And, every vote counts! Here is a fun little tutorial.
Bonus Tips
- “Watch out for gaslighting”
Gaslighting is a tactic in which a person or entity, in order to gain more power, makes a victim question their reality. It works much better than you may think! Anyone is susceptible to gaslighting, and it is a common technique of abusers, dictators, narcissists, and cult leaders [also, elected officials, news outlets and social media platforms].
2. “If it sounds sensational, it probably is.”
Sensationalism is intended to provoke attention and excitement, at the expense of accuracy. If you hear some outrageous information that triggers an immediate reaction of visceral shock/fear/anger, take a deep breath. Refer to point #1. Don’t share it, fact check it. Unverified or disputed? Ignore it.
Take Care Of Yourself
This is a highly stress-inducing time! Not only are we in the middle of a deadly pandemic, we are also awaiting results of a hotly contested election – not to mention all of the not-so-ordinary challenges we each have in our personal lives. Combined together, if you’re anything like me, there’s a lot of anxiety to navigate. It’s important to take care of our physical, mental and emotional wellness.

Staying hydrated, eating nutritious food, getting healthy amount of sleep. Reduce the news and social media you consume! Increase things that raise serotonin: Play with a dog or pet cat, go outside for fresh air and sunshine [or rain, or snow]. Chat with a friend or family member. Hug a tree. Smell a flower. Listen to the birds. Take a walk. Dance. Yoga. Pray/Meditate, read a good book. Play a favorite game. Be sure to add lots of favorite music to your day! ♪♫♪

Stay safe and well friends. Wear your mask, stay distanced, be thankful for the good things in the world, and trust the process. – Holly
For me, the greatest thing I can remember that keeps me from stressing out over the election is, I remember that God is the God of the Universe. He is in charge and I believe that nothing happens unless he allows it. So, no matter who you were for or who wins, there’s a reason for everything and God will use whomever wins for His purposes. I just pray and say, Dear God, your will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Amen.
We will be okay, no matter the outcome. Love you, Lynne
