Blown Away by a Typhoon from Japan to Spain! A New Adventure!

Day 3: Spontaneous #Spain!🇪🇦 Monday Oct 14 - #MADRID Having a fun wander through the old winding cobblestone streets making our way lazily toward the famous PRADO Museum. "The Hug" is a memorial to 4 lawyers killed in 1977 during the country's breakaway from communism, and embrace of democracy. San Jerónimo el Real, a Roman Catholic church completed in 1505. Located east of the Prado Museum. The PRADO is massive! 3 hrs isn't enough time to see half of everything, but it's probably all our feet could endure walking in one day. Seeing Goya's art was a highlight. And, so many hidden treasures! When in Madrid, don't miss the PRADO! We walked home on rainy cobblestones, ate at a wonderful organic plant based restaurant, and got to see The San Francisco Cathedral lit up at night. #travelrefugees #adventure

Day 2 Spontaneous Spain! Today we enjoyed a peaceful Sabbath visiting the beautiful #lds Spain Madrid Temple grounds and attanding Stake Conference at the chapel next to the temple. Elder Tom-Atle Herland from Oslo, Norway was the visiting area authority presiding. It was fun to meet him and talk about the preparations for the Choir coming to Norway next summer. I'm sure we will see each other again! The stake leaders provided us with headsets when we entered. A kind man did a wonderful job translating the talks from Spanish into English for us over the headphones. I loved hearing the hymns being sung with gusto in Spanish (and tried my best to keep up). It was a very spiritual and thought-provoking meeting. The theme was chasing away the darkness from our lives by adding more light with daily prayer, scriptures and weekly temple attendance. Our dear friends Elder and Sister Roland and Gloria Johnson are serving as humanitarian missionaries in Madrid! When they saw we were coming they invited us to attend the church meeting with them, and then we walked back to their apartment where we were fed an exceptionally delicious meal. #spain🇪🇸 #madrid #travelrefugees #sabbathday

Day 1 Spontaneous Spain! We should be in Japan hiking the Kumano Kodo, but Typhoon Hagibis cancelled our flights and made us Travel Refugees. We have now landed in Madrid for a week with no plan! Here are just some of our favorite things today. #Madrid #travelrefugees #Spain

The Conference Center in SLC, Utah on Temple square holds 21,000+ people. This weekend it will fill up FIVE separate times during the #GeneralConference sessions of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! Millions more people will be listening and watching from churches, boats, trains, planes, mountains, deserts, jungles, forests, cities, countrysides and everywhere in-between all around the world. You are invited! Tune in wherever you are at www.churchofjesuschrist.org Also, find on YouTube and all your social media apps. 🎹 I will be watching 2 of these sessions at my house. The other 3 of these sessions I am watching and participating from a seat in the choir loft of this amazing Conference Center. I love singing for Conference. I love the beautiful music. I love the sensation that angels are present, all around me. It is magical in a really holy way. What a stunning sight it is looking out at that vast audience and knowing my pioneer ancestors could never have dreamed that many members of their faith and community could exist, let alone gather all together! ... and then how mind blowing it would be to mention all the millions more joining from around the world digitally. :) I also love the feeling of Conference. There's love and excitement in the air. Anticipation for the temple announcements and other organizational changes, anxiousness to hear inspiring messages, and a reminder to the soul that God lives and loves us. There's a renewed spirit of hope for the world and the future at this Conference. Something the world really needs right now. This Conference has something for everyone. There will be a talk or a quote or a song that's meant just for me and something just for you. Something that will motivate. encourage, soothe, inspire, heal.
