THOUGHT OF THE DAY: President Spencer W. Kimball 1895 – 1985 12th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints |
![]() “I find that when I get casual in my relationships with divinity and when it seems that no divine ear is listening and no divine voice is speaking, that I am far, far away. If I immerse myself in the scriptures the distance narrows and the spirituality returns. I find myself loving more intensely those whom I must love with all my heart and mind and strength, and loving them more. I find it easier to abide their counsel” (The Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, p. 135) |
Making A Joyfully Peculiar Noise
Amen to that. Of course, my idea of “immersed” is probably somewhere near what Pres. Kimball considered “far, far away”, But I can definitely feel a tremendous difference when I am speaking to the Father and hearing my voice. That is when I know he loves me, because I feel His love deep in my soul so that I cannot doubt it. I have had some rough times, just like everybody does. But when I stand next to the Savior, I know I can face anything with courage and strength.

Thank you for the quote! I was trying to find it for a post I’m writing on the blessings of scripture study. 🙂
