Be of Good Cheer and Do Not Fear

Every Monday morning I eagerly watch my “in-box” waiting for the arrival of a special email. For the past four months, and the next 14 more, this is my only weekly contact with our daughter “Sister A.”, who is serving as as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Regardless of any challenges she may be facing each week, her letters are always positive, uplifting and filled with faith. She is simply so cheerful, it’s contagious! So, I know that as soon as her email arrives, my day is going to be a little brighter and a lot better! Today, the title and theme of her email message to our family was from a scripture she found in a LDS book of scripture called The Doctrine and Covenants. I’m just going to let Sister A provide today’s blog message, because I simply couldn’t say anything more sweet or profound. – MoSop

Dear Family,

…I found this cool scripture this week … D&C 68:6. It reads,

Wherefore, be of good cheer and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you and will stand by you. And ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ and know that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, that I am to come.

I love how the first thing it tells us to do is to be of good cheer, happy and positive. We don’t need to fear because Christ is with us and will stand by us. That should fill us with hope, and happiness to know that he will never leave us, but be right by our side. In our times of trials and in our good times. He will always be near!

Love,

Sister A
