There’s no more rich and creamy-dreamy voice than Broadway star Brian Stokes Mitchell. Our Thanksgiving playlist would not be complete without his masterful performance of the beautiful song “Grateful” written by John Bucchino. “Stokes” is an award winning star of stage and screen, who became part of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir ‘family’, in 2011 when he performed not only as guest at the August 2011 O.C. Tanner Gift of Music Concert but also returning as the PBS Christmas Concert guest artist that very same year. Thousands of concert goers fell in love with him each night. I freely admit, I certainly have a big crush! This master musician and adoring family man has charm, charisma and stage presence galore, and a genuinely good heart which makes him irresistible.
I guarantee, this song will stay in your mind and heart for a good long while. Enjoy! – MoSop
There is one thing we can do to make life sweeter, more joyful, even glorious.
We can be grateful!

Grateful Lyrics by John Bucchino
I’ve got a warm place to sleep
Some nights I lie awake counting gifts
Instead of counting sheepI’ve got a heart that can hold love
I’ve got a mind that can think
There may be times when I lose the light
And let my spirits sink
But I can’t stay depressed
When I remember how I’m blessedGrateful, grateful
Truly grateful I am
Grateful, grateful
Truly blessed
And duly gratefulIn a city of strangers
I’ve got a family of friends
No matter what rocks and brambles fill the way
I know that they will stay until the endI feel a hand holding my hand
It’s not a hand you can see
But on the road to the promised land
This hand will shepherd me
Through delight and despair
Holding tight and always there
Grateful, grateful
Truly grateful I am
Grateful, grateful
Truly blessed
And duly grateful
It’s not that I don’t want a lot
Or hope for more, or dream of more
But giving thanks for what I’ve got
Makes me so much happier than keeping score
In a world that can bring pain
I will still take each chance
For I believe that whatever the terrain
Our feet can learn to dance
Whatever stone life may sling
We can moan or we can sing
Grateful, grateful
Truly grateful I am
Grateful, grateful
Truly blessed
And duly grateful
I love Brian Stokes Mitchell. I bought the DVD of the Christmas Concert when he was the guest. It was wonderful. I even sent him an email and told him how much I enjoyed it. I was impressed that he sent a reply, from his cell phone no less. What a prince. I first saw him on a PBS special of the music from South Pacific. He sang Some Enchanted Evening and This Nearly was Mine. It was magical. Here are the links:
