I have always felt the deepest of admiration and reverence for Mary, the mother of Jesus. To me, she is the ultimate example of quiet strength, divine womanhood, selfless motherhood, and courage to trust in God and do “impossible things”. There is a lot we do not know about Mary’s story. But, we know that she endured great hardship throughout her life and suffered the ultimate heartbreak all on behalf of her child. I cannot even begin to imagine all of what Mary felt and experienced. We can only wonder what she may or may not have known in advance. We do know that Mary had a divine purpose which she was preordained and called to fulfill on this earth – and, she did so with honor. I cannot wait to meet her someday and hear her tell me “the rest of the story”.
“By word and deed, Mary, the mother of Jesus, teaches devoted followers of her son about the significant virtues of a true disciple”
“Although little of Mary’s life is actually recorded, what is recorded reveals a pattern of righteousness. That pattern is (1) faithful obedience to the word of God, (2) expressive joy for God’s blessings, (3) readiness to receive God’s witness and counsel from His servants, and (4) rearing a posterity who glorified God.”
– Susan Easton Black, Mary His Mother, Jan. 1991
The talented and popular five-member A’cappella group Pentatonix has certainly been getting a lot of buzz lately! Their newly released Christmas album coincided with the release of several viral YouTube videos. The most popular release has been their rendering of “Mary Did You Know?” – the vocals are tight, and the setting in a candlelit cave adds a feeling of sacred authenticity. I have to admit, I’ve never cared much for this song. But, this performance by Pentatonix elevated my opinion. Enjoy! – MoSop
Mary Did You Know?
Text By: Mark Lowry ~ Music By: Buddy Greene
that your Baby Boy would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you?Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will calm the storm with His hand?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little Baby, you kissed the face of God?Mary did you know…The blind will see.
The deaf will hear.
The dead will live again.
The lame will leap.
The dumb will speak
The praises of The Lamb.
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy is heaven’s perfect Lamb?
The sleeping Child you’re holding is the Great, I Am.
I always loved the song!
