A Valentine For Marriage

There’s an old song made famous by Frank Sinatra that says “Love and Marriage go together like a horse and carriage, you can’t have one without the other.” Simplistic, yet true. People may try to put the horse before the cart, or attempt to make the cart keep moving without the horse … but, eventually that doesn’t work out so well, and no one’s happy. In April 2011 Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gave some wonderful marriage advice. His talk inspired today’s video, which highlights some of his priceless points, and shares additional messages from married couples about their “Expressions of Love”. Perfect. – MoSop

Elder Richard G. Scott and his wife, Jeanene, were a very close and loving couple. Since her death in 1995, he continues to think of her and speaks about her often.

Favorite quotes:

  1.  “Pure love is an incomparable, potent power for good. Righteous love is the foundation of a successful marriage.”
  2. “Marriage provides an ideal setting for overcoming any tendency to be selfish or self-centered.”
  3. “Express gratitude for what your spouse does for you. Express that love and gratitude often.”
  4. “It is so rewarding to be married. Marriage is wonderful. In time you begin to think alike and have the same ideas and impressions. You have times when you are extremely happy, times of testing, and times of trial, but the Lord guides you through all of those growth experiences together.”

“A ladle full of love every day”
