Multiple Free Mormon Tabernacle Choir Concerts During ACDA Week

If you are lucky enough to be in Utah between Feb. 24 – March 1, 2015 then you have the unique opportunity to attend SEVERAL FREE musical concerts performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir & Orchestra at Temple Square. The Choir & Orchestra will present five (yes, FIVE!) separate concerts in conjunction with the epic ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) National Conference hosted in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Hi There Musical World! Welcome to SLC!! 🙂

TWO of the concerts (Thurs. Feb 26 & Friday Feb 27) are closed to the public for ACDA members only. However, THREE of the performances are available to the PUBLIC, and each one of them will be a Totally DIFFERENT but equally AMAZING Program* that you won’t want to miss!

*ALL of this amazing music – 31 pieces to be exact – are being sung by memory. You might imagine my life is getting pretty intense right now!

Consider yourself personally invited! Check out the schedule below:

#1. TUESDAY FEB 24th @7:30 PM – Tabernacle on Temple Square

An Evening of Sacred Song – Dress Rehearsal

This final Dress Rehearsal is in preparation for the Thursday & Friday ACDA Concerts. It is FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. The program includes a stunning mix of both rarely heard & well known sacred songs – classical and contemporary. The incomparable Alex Boyé will be a special guest performer on this concert. ♥

Alex Boye’ will perform with The Choir & Orchestra during the ACDA Concerts Feb 24-27

Be prepared to experience something new, feel shivers run up and down your spine, and possibly witness the Tabernacle roof blowing clear off! 😉 [just kidding – but the chandeliers might sway]

Concert starts promptly at 7:30 PM. Doors will open at 6:30 PM. Come Early!

#2. SATURDAY FEB 28th @8:00 PM / LDS Conference Center

From The Treasury of American Song

This is the Grand Finale ACDA Concert. Special Guest Artists include: Sylvia McNair, Santino Fontana, and the U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants, along with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir & Orchestra at Temple Square performing in The Conference Center

This program will include a little bit of everything from Silver Screen, Broadway, Gospel, Folk and even American Pop. It is sure to be one of the most memorable concerts to hit Salt Lake City in a very long time (and, if you know the Choir, that’s really saying something). Saturday Feb. 28th is going to be a BIG showstopper concert experience – including all those thousands of professional choral ACDA voices joining from time to time from the audience (and yes, if you come, YOU too!). The Conference Center is going to be Rockin’!

Although all free tickets have been distributed, YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS!!

So, don’t fret. There is a STAND BY LINE. Come Extra Early. It will be worth your wait!

#3. SUNDAY MARCH 1st @9:30 am / Tabernacle on Temple Square

Music & The Spoken Word – with The King’s Singers

The King’s Singers are seen here performing on a Christmas special with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir

As it just so happens, The King’s Singers will also be in town this week, and will join the Choir & Orchestra as special guests during their historic weekly broadcast – now it its 86th Year of continuous network broadcasting (whew…that’s a LOT of Sundays!). This 30 minute non-denominational musical program is free and open to the public ages 8 and up. The only requirement is that you be inside the Tabernacle & seated by 9:15 am when the doors close. (Tip: The doors open at 8:00 am – and you guessed it –  Come Early!!)

Can’t be in SLC in person? No Problem! You can always watch the Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcasts LIVE online at 9:30 am Mountain Time every Sunday – JUST CLICK HERE!

Wow! It’s going to be such a magical musical week in Salt Lake City!

Now I just gotta hold on tight and enjoy the ride! I hope you’ll get the chance to come join me in these musical experiences. If not, please be sure to subscribe & keep an eye on the Choir’s official YouTube page, where highlights could be shared in the future. – MoSop
