You Are Beyond Amazing!

Did you know that March 1st is “World Compliment Day”?

True fact.

Of course, this holiday is on a list of “obscure” and rather ignominious observances. You won’t see vacation time off work, or a parade. But still, I thought it was a lovely idea.

How often do we take the time to compliment our loved ones and friends?

How often do we compliment a complete stranger?

The BIG Power Of small Things

A favorite scripture of mine from the Book of Mormon is:

“by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.” – Alma 37:6

We never know what the positive impact a smile and a kind word can have. A compliment can go a long way – especially when it comes from a stranger, which can often feel almost startling because it is so rare and unexpected. A few weeks ago as I boarded the bus to work a woman I have never met turned and smiled at me and said “I love those ear rings you are wearing. They compliment your outfit and your eyes so nicely.”

I was having a hard morning, and I was worried about a project at work. I actually kept replaying that little compliment in my mind, and it became a real boost to my confidence. It was such a small and simple thing that stranger shared with me. It took just a few seconds. She probably thought it was nothing. And yet, it had a long-lasting impact.

“How like that glorious wind can be the sincere compliment of a friend, the cheerful greeting of a parent, the approving nod of a sibling, or the helpful smile of a co-worker or classmate, all supplying fresh “wind in our sails” as we battle the challenges of life! President Thomas S. Monson put it this way: “We can’t direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails. For maximum happiness, peace, and contentment, may we choose a positive attitude.” – Sister Jean B. Bingham

And we accept it with gratitude 👍
I remember “I was out with my colleagues for tracking 2 months back a guy of my age (totally stranger) said I look like Ali Zafar (a Bollywood hero from Pakistan) in my outfit and that really boost me throughout the journey. 🌟
So it’s feel really good for that…..
