Day 8 MoTab Tour ❤ Monday 25 June 2018 Mountain View, California
Our second concert in the Bay area was at the Shoreline amphitheater, a huge outdoor theater with 9,000 seats under a canopy, and an additional capacity of 11,000 on the lawn.
One of the really special events of this day began at the sound check and rehearsal. Three music groups were invited to participate in our sound check and pre-concert rehearsal, the San Jose Pop Up Choir, the Grand Chamber Group, and most significantly – members of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus. I had met two of these men just the day before when I attended the pride parade and BBQ event!
Additionally, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir invited the conductor of the SF Gay Mens Chorus Tim Seelig to be the guest conductor for our final encore during our concert that night.
This was a really significant milestone between the Latter-day Saint community and the gay community to come together like this. The power of music to heal hearts, and build bridges of love and understanding is so real!
You can read a great news article with more details about this event here.
-Dr. Tim Seelig, SFGMC as quoted in PRNewsWire
“It was such an honor to have Dr. Seelig conduct the Choir. This was a beautiful moment for both of our organizations to be unified through music.”
It was a truly heartwarming day for me, especially to happen on the heels of my San Francisco Pride Parade experience just the very day before, and to get to see and hug my new friends again. My heart was, and remains, very full of joy.
I will conclude this post with a viewer video of the final encore of the concert being directed by Dr. Seelig.
This Land is Your Land, This Land Is My Land
What symbolic lyrics! It truly is a land for you and for me it is made for all of us to live together in love and perfect harmony. – MoSop
