Jesus taught us how to know the difference between a true or a false prophet, and between a true or false follower of His gospel:
“By their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matt. 7:20.)
“For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit… Every tree is known by his own fruit.” (Luke 6:43–44.)
President Ezra Taft Benson, Thirteenth prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints once stated:
The essential question of life should be the same one posed by Paul: “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” (Acts 9:6.)
…”We need more men and women of Christ who will always remember Him, who will keep His commandments which He has given them. The greatest yardstick of success is to see how closely we can walk each moment in His steps.” — Ezra Taft Benson, “In His Steps,” Ensign, Sep 1988, 2, emphasis added
Mormons take Jesus’s commands very seriously to “Come, Follow”, “Go and Do Likewise”, “Love One Another”, Work, Serve, Give, and Share. We believe that it is not just enough to profess a love and belief in Jesus Christ. One must follow His teachings and example, and bring forth good fruit from our labors in the service of mankind.
The following video includes words of modern day prophets, and depicts just some of the many humanitarian efforts that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is involved with throughout the world. The music is Kenneth Cope’s song, “We Believe” from EFY 2002.
