Fight Like A Girl For Mother’s Day

Today's Race - over 15,000 people! (photo taken by me)

Today I joined with my family, friends and over 15,000 new “bosom buddies” in the annual Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure in Salt Lake City, Utah. This event is always held the first Saturday of May and you can read about our experience last year, here. Although the weather was predicted to hit record temperatures of 80 degrees Fahrenheit, we were blessed with overcast sky and a slight breeze to keep things very pleasant on our 5K [approx. 3 mile] journey. As always, I had my trusty pocket camera with me and I was very busy capturing the event with photos. In fact, I took so many [236 to be exact] that I had a hard time picking and choosing for our video.

Our Team, 2011

Reviewing all of the photos and memories made me realize once again how blessed I am, and how many wonderful people there are in this world! The Goodness of Humanity is alive and well. I believe very strongly in the Breast Cancer awareness campaign, and I’m a strong supporter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The plague of Breast Cancer is something that is close to my heart personally, and has effected many of my dear friends and family members. My own mother was diagnosed three years ago [you can read blogs about her here and here]. Mother is a true survivor, and one of my greatest heroes! She embodies the very essence of what it is to be “an elect lady” and Woman of Faith.

For my mother, and for all of the mothers, women, girls and daughters of God out there – [as well as all of you men, too] this is for you, with love!
