It’s hard to believe that it’s been six whole years since I woke up one morning with the fragmented remains of a dream swirling in my mind and a little voice whispering “build a blog“. I don’t remember anything about the dream, only the “build a blog” thing. Of course, the voice could have been saying any number of random messages. It could have been “buy a dog“…but, since I already had a dog, I was pretty sure it was “build a blog“.
This was odd because #1. I only vaguely knew what a “blog” was. #2. I didn’t read blogs. #3. I knew absolutely zip about the actual activity and “how to” of ‘building’ and ‘blogging’ on the internet. But, nevertheless, off I boldly went into the ‘Bloggernacle‘ . . . and my life would never be the same!
Sending big kisses to WordPress for making it (nearly) painless learning how to share my musings with the universe!
And now the Mormon Soprano turns 6 years old today. Who knew this little blogger would learn to walk and talk and go off into the virtual world exploring. She’s made friends all over the world. She’s had visitors from every continent. As of this moment in time, she’s had
- 739,420 Visitors! … (to be exact)
Wow. I need to buy a lot more party favors…
My blog and I even got a little trophy and an official “Happy Anniversary” badge from WordPress an hour ago!
Awww…sweet!
If I wasn’t so sleep deprived, this is where you would get to read the really cool recap of the past 6 years of my blog life, with highlight of some of my

most memorable and most popular blog posts. And, if time and energy were no object, I would also be sharing a cool new original video montage I would have created with photos of my past 6 years, set to my favorite soundtrack….
Ah….That would definitely be the coolest virtual blogiversary party post EVER!!
But, instead we will have to take a rain check. Tonight my too-many-late-nights-in-hospital-with-sick-child-sleep-deprived brain can only manage this much. But, I will leave you with one of my favorite birthday poems, which I always looked forward to sharing one day on my blog. (and now that day has arrived!)
Oh, and I’ll also include a photo of my darling six-year-old self. (circa 1972)
Now I Am Six
When I was One,
I had just begun.
When I was Two,
I was nearly new.
When I was Three,
I was hardly me.
When I was Four,
I was not much more.
When I was Five,
I was just alive.
But now I am Six,
I’m as clever as clever,
So I think I’ll be six for ever and ever.
– by A.A. Milne
This is so great. How I love the poem and love the picture. There is my beautiful little girl. Such a lucky mom I am and was. I couldn’t have asked for a better or sweeter spirit. You have blessed my life in so many ways! Congratulations on being “6”.
Love, your mother

Melanie – you should blog, it’s fun and it’s not that hard. Check out WordPress.com (there’s lots of free tutorials & support, and it’s a free server). The poem above is by English author A.A. Milne, best known for his books about the teddy bear Winnie-the-Pooh and children’s poems. The recording was created by the HMV Junior Record Club, 1961 – voiced by actor Dick Bentley.
