This week Americans will celebrate the annual holiday of Thanksgiving.

On this day, we will gather with friends and family, eat a lot of good food, and hopefully spend some time counting our many blessings.

The idea of writing a comprehensive blog post regarding “All Of The Things I Am Thankful For” proved much too overwhelming a task for me.  Suffice it to say, I am simply so thankful for my life much more than words can tell!

However I will share just a few thoughts – and a song, to express my feelings.

Ten Things I Am Grateful For

1. Living on planet Earth during the dawn of the 21st Century

2. To Give and Receive Love – including priceless Family & Friends

3. Freedom to worship according to the dictates of my own conscience

4. Continually learning new things.

5. The ability to read and write.

6. Food and Shelter.

7. Cell phones, Computers and other mass communication

8. The gift of music – which allows my heart and soul the ability to communicate in ways that mere words never achieve.

9. The Love of God, our Father in Heaven, who watches over each of His children living on this earth, and sent us here for a divine purpose.

10. Our Savior, Jesus Christ- The Son of God – who freely gives His amazing grace. He made the ultimate sacrifice for all humankind ensuring we will all live after death, and can return home to God our Father. Jesus is the true Author and Finisher of our Thanksgiving Feast, and to Him I give all Thanks!

What are you Truly Grateful For, Today?

“Grateful” Lyrics by John Bucchino, Sung by Brian Stokes Mitchell

I’ve got a roof over my head
I’ve got a warm place to sleep
Some nights I lie awake counting gifts
Instead of counting sheep
~~~
I’ve got a heart that can hold love
I’ve got a mind that can think
There may be times when I lose the light
And let my spirits sink
But I can’t stay depressed
When I remember how I’m blessed
~~~
Grateful, grateful
Truly grateful I am
Grateful, grateful
Truly blessed, And duly grateful
~~~
In a city of strangers
I got a family of friends
No matter what rocks and brambles fill the way
I know that they will stay until the end
~~~
I feel a hand holding my hand
It’s not a hand you can see
But on the road to the promised land
This hand will shepherd me
Through delight and despair
Holding tight and always there
~~~
Grateful, grateful
Truly grateful I am
Grateful, grateful
Truly blessed And duly grateful
~~~
It’s not that I don’t want a lot
Or hope for more, or dream of more
But giving thanks for what I’ve got
Makes me happier than keeping score
~~~
In a world that can bring pain
I will still take each chance
For I believe that whatever the terrain
Our feet can learn to dance
Whatever stone life may sling
We can moan or we can sing
~~~
Grateful, grateful
Truly grateful I am
Grateful, grateful
Truly blessed And duly grateful
Truly blessed And duly grateful

  1. I am so happy to have discovered this video and lyrics! I saw Brian on his last visit/concert at BYU, and this song has been getting me through some rough times ever since. I actually googled it for the lyrics. Thank you, thank you from one Mormon soprano to another 🙂
